University of Louisville TRIO Upward Bound and TRIO Talent Search seek dedicated Resident Counselors to support high school students in a six-week summer residential academic program. Counselors live in the residence hall and help create a safe, structured, and engaging environment that promotes academic success and personal development. Assignment to a specific program (Upward Bound 1, Upward Bound 2, and Talent Search) will be based on program needs, applicant qualifications, and staffing considerations.
Program Dates
June 1, 2026 – July 11, 2026
(Mandatory staff training May 27 -29, 2026)
Key Responsibilities
Live on campus and supervise 65-170 students in a team-based residential setting
Mentor students and support academic social, and personal development
Enforce program policies ensuring safety and positive conduct
Lead activities, workshops, and study hall supervision
Participate in all program events, trips, meetings, and staff trainings
Manage emergencies, monitor student progress, and maintain residence hall conditions
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with high school students
At least one year of college completed
Supervisory or leadership experience
Conflict resolution and tutoring experience
Familiarity with residence hall procedures
Prior involvement with TRIO programs
