Job Description
Sonkusale Research Labs at Tufts University (www.nanolab.info) is recruiting a Postdoctoral Researcher to join our interdisciplinary team working on the development of advanced biosensing and bioelectronic platforms. The role focuses on creating novel sensing systems that can monitor
complex biological environments in real time and integrate with therapeutic technologies. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work at the interface of materials science, electronics, and biology, developing next-generation biomedical sensors with applications in healthcare and
translational medicine.
Key Responsibilities
• Sensor Design and Fabrication
o Develop electrochemical, optical, or electronic sensors for continuous monitoring
of biological markers.
o Explore new materials and nanostructures for enhanced sensitivity, selectivity, and
stability.
• System Integration
o Incorporate sensors into flexible or textile-based platforms for physiological
monitoring.
o Work on miniaturized electronics and wireless readout systems to enable real-time
data acquisition.
• Validation and Characterization
o Conduct in vitro and ex vivo studies to validate sensor performance.
o Optimize sensor accuracy, reproducibility, and long-term stability in complex
biological fluids.
• Collaboration and Dissemination
o Collaborate closely with engineers, biologists, and clinicians to translate sensor
technologies toward practical applications.
o Prepare manuscripts, present at scientific conferences, and contribute to funding
reports.
Qualifications
• Education: PhD in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, or related field.
• Required Expertise:
o Strong background in biosensors, electrochemistry, or bioelectronics.
o Hands-on experience with sensor fabrication techniques such as
micro/nanofabrication, polymer coatings, or electrode modification.
o Proficiency with analytical techniques (cyclic voltammetry, impedance
spectroscopy, fluorescence/optical detection).
• Preferred Expertise:
o Experience with wearable/flexible electronics and integration of sensors into
biomedical devices.
o Knowledge of signal processing, microcontrollers, or wireless data systems.
o Familiarity with regulatory considerations for biomedical sensors.
• Skills:
o Strong experimental and analytical problem-solving abilities.
o Excellent scientific writing and presentation skills.
o Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative research
environment.
Application Materials:
• CV
• Cover letter describing relevant experience
• One-page research proposal showcasing creativity and technical vision
• Contact information for three references
