Summary
The Dileep Laboratory at the Huffington Center on Aging, Baylor College of Medicine investigates the genomic and epigenomic drivers of brain aging and age-related neurological diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease. A particular interest is in the role of DNA damage in neurological dysfunction, including drug and radiation-induced DNA damage in cancer treatment.
We are looking for a postdoctoral fellow with training in the area of chromatin biology and/or neuroscience to investigate chromatin regulation in brain aging and neurological dysfunction. Experience with computational analysis of NGS sequencing data and/or experience with mouse models is a plus.
Job Duties
- Designs, plans, and conducts research experiments using a suite of omics techniques, cellular and animal models, and molecular biology techniques.
- Evaluates and analyzes data generated from experiments.
- Conducts literature search and summarizes information in an appropriate format.
- Disseminates research findings by presenting in seminars and conferences.
- Composes and edits manuscripts and grant proposals.
- Engages in collaborations based on lab's research interests and expertise.
- Trains and supervises junior lab members.

Performs specific types of experiments including, but not limited to:
- Mammalian cell culture and genetic manipulations.
- Mouse husbandry, primary tissue culture, tissue dissection.
- DNA, RNA, protein and chromatin extraction, western blotting.
- Genomics and epigenomics assays (Hi-C, RNA-seq, etc) and sequencing library preparation.
- Fluorescence microscopy.
- Computation analysis and coding encouraged.
Minimum Qualifications
- MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
- No experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D. degree in any biomedical sciences field.
- Experience with mouse models and/or experience analyzing NGS data is preferred.
