Job Description
The Department of Computing Sciences, State University of New York (SUNY) Brockport, invites applications for a full-time postdoctoral research position through the SUNY PRODiG+ Fellowship program. The position is to begin August 2024. The PRODiG+ ("Promoting Recruitment, Opportunity, Diversity, Inclusion and Growth") program aims to (1) increase the number and share of excellent diverse faculty committed to advancing the ideals of diversity, equity, and inclusion; and (2) strengthening the pipeline for retention and support of these faculty.
We seek a candidate that has research interest and/or experience in one or more of the following areas: Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Human Computer Interaction, Cybersecurity. Research interest and/or experience beyond the ones stated, is also welcome to complement those areas. The successful candidate will prepare presentations and papers for dissemination of results; develop and submit grant proposals; collaborate on research projects with faculty both in and outside their home department; work with graduate students (in the soon-to-be launched graduate program) and undergraduate students on scholarly projects. In addition to conducting research, the fellow will have the opportunity to teach one course per semester. This is a two-year position with the opportunity to apply for a tenure track position in the home academic department upon the completion of the fellowship.
The successful candidate will join a dynamic and growing department that houses ABET accredited programs and values innovation. The department has strong ties with the local industry - with faculty pursuing projects through such partnerships. We value and foster community building and diversity in our curricula and scholarly pursuits. The candidate will have the opportunity to establish an independent and robust scholarly agenda with the necessary support needed for them to be successful including mentorship, support for developing grant proposals, access to our network of industry partners, and paid expenses for travel to two conferences per year.
Minimum Qualifications:
Eligible to work in the United States without a visa sponsorship.
PhD in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Cybersecurity, or in a closely related discipline from an accredited institution completed prior to start date.
Demonstrate personal, academic, and/or work experience engaging with diversity, equity, and inclusion and/or a commitment to facilitating and enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts in the campus community. Such experience may include, but is not limited to, an academic/scholarly track record focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion; work, volunteer/unpaid/community service; or related experience/expertise in serving underserved or vulnerable areas and/ or populations.
