We are seeking a passionate, highly skilled and motivated Scientific Manager to oversee our diverse projects and lead our research teams towards impactful discoveries.
Job Summary:
As a Scientific Manager, you will play a pivotal role in managing collaborative scientific research projects and development activities within CCB. You will be responsible for coordinating multi-disciplinary teams, implementing and translating research strategies into actionable items, and ensuring that projects are executed effectively and in accordance with the highest scientific standards. This includes evaluating the feasibility of new projects and proposals, providing expert recommendations, monitoring progress, timelines and budgets. You will be responsible for communicating progress and findings to stakeholders, including writing reports and meeting summaries.
Your expertise in quantitative disciplines or in biological/biomedical fields, combined with your practical computing skills, will be essential for driving innovation. You are passionate about science and scientific discovery, a highly motivated team player with strong communication and organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage collaborative scientific projects taken on by teams of researchers, data scientists, and scientific software engineers, providing guidance and support to ensure project objectives are met.
• Ensure effective collaboration and communication between team members and across projects.
• Utilize organizational software, source code control software, and project management tools to streamline processes and enhance productivity.
• Organize scientific events such as seminars, town halls, off-sites and workshops.
Qualifications:
• A PhD in a quantitative discipline, or in a biological or biomedical field.
• Strong communication skills and experience managing scientific research teams.
• Excellent practical computing skills, including proficiency in organizational software, use of source code control software (e.g., GitHub), and project management tools (e.g., JIRA, Trello).
• Demonstrated ability to design and execute research projects successfully.
• Exceptional problem-solving abilities and analytical skills.
• Superior communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex scientific concepts to diverse audiences.
• A track record of scientific publications and scientific software contributions to the field.
• Experience with grant writing and securing funding for research projects is a plus.
