Indiana Minority Health Coalition (IMHC) is pleased to announce a Postdoctoral Fellowship
position with focus on Maternal and Child Health (MCH).

Position Description
The two-year postdoctoral program provides mentorship and support for fellows to develop their
MCH research agendas and link efforts to MCH public health practice. The fellowship supports
salary, health insurance, 401K, coursework (if desired), research expenses, travel and attendance at
professional meetings. This is a full-time, onsite position that will be housed at Indiana Minority
Health Coalition’s main office. There is also moving/relocation assistance available if the
successful candidate lives outside of Central Indiana.
Fellows will engage in related training and research activities, hone proposal/grant preparation
skills, publish scholarly articles, advance teaching skills and presentation skills, as well as network
with the broader MCH community.

• A Statewide Birth Story Telling Project: Designed to collect birthing stories from Black and
Brown women across the state if IN
• Storytelling as Qualitative Research
• Evaluation of the IMHC Doula Program to examine its effectiveness over the maternity care
continuum (perinatal/post-partum)
• Integration of Doulas and Hospital Maternity Care
• Non-Medical Birth Support Workers Gain Traction in Maternal Mortality Crisis
• Explore federal, state or municipal funding/partnership opportunities as well as university
level and federal career development awards.
• Maternal Health Innovation: The Effectiveness of using Project ECHO to build informed
communities (providers and users) that reduces MCH care disparities and creates systemic
change.,
Eligibility
Candidates in various fields (e.g., public health, psychology, social work, and family studies) who
have completed or are near completion of their doctoral training are eligible to apply. Preference
will be given to candidates with research-oriented doctorates (e.g., PhD, DrPH, ScD) as well as those
with clinical degrees (e.g., MD, DO, DDS) and with an MPH/MHS with a concentration in Maternal
and Child Health Epidemiology, with knowledge of reproductive/perinatal and pediatric
epidemiology. The position is designed for the successful postdoc fellow to secure a position with a
university as a BIPOC Researcher focusing on Maternal Child Health related disparities.
Applicants must be US citizens or hold a permanent resident visa. Preference will be given to
applicants who wish to focus on domestic Maternal Child Health work. Graduates who have
demonstrated scientific rigor in their graduate training and come from historically disadvantaged
groups by virtue of race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, or other related factors are particularly
encouraged to apply.
