The opportunities that we are offering
CSIRO aim to recruit a cohort of Science Digital CSIRO Early Research Career (CERC) Postdoctoral and Engineering Fellowships. These fellowships provide opportunities to scientists and engineers who have completed their doctorate or masters degree and have less than three years relevant postdoctoral or postmasters work experience.

You will be joining us at an exciting time where we have recently partnered with the Australian Government to establish a National AI Centre and formulate AI Ethical frameworks and foundations. As part of this journey, you will significantly contribute to the development of innovative ideas, empirical studies, collaborative projects, methods, and technologies in software engineering for AI-based systems including Responsible AI.

About You
We expect the Science Digital CERC Fellows to learn and grow to become agile researchers by the end of this project. We will embed the Science Digital CERC Fellows into the Data61 Science Digital ecosystem, where they will have a supporting and enriching experience.
We’re interested in hearing from people who can demonstrate the following:
- Capability within software engineering, artificial intelligence, machine learning, data management and analytics, ethics, risk management, governance, blockchain or human-centered computing.
- Completed their doctorate or masters degree and have less than three years relevant postdoctoral or postmasters work experience in a relevant field such as software engineering or computer science.
- Ability to use software engineering methods in the context of Responsible AI or responsible technologies.
- Research experience in one of more of the following software engineering sub-fields:
- Software architecture and quality, requirements engineering, software development processes or empirical software engineering.
