Job Description
Are you an enthusiastic and motivated researcher with an interest in developing mathematical models to understand viral infection dynamics? Do you have an established background in Mathematical Modelling in Systems Biology? Do you want to further your career in one of the UKs leading research-intensive Universities?
You will be part of a European consortium within the EPICVIR (Emerging Porcine Influenza and Coronaviruses) project. You will contribute to the development of an integrated mathematical model of viral replication, transmission, pathogenesis and immune control for swine influenza and coronaviruses.
Working in an inter-disciplinary environment in the Mathematical Immunology group at the School of Mathematics in Leeds; you will closely collaborate with mathematical modellers and statisticians at the Pontificia Comillas University (Madrid, Spain) as well as immunologists and virologists at The Pirbright Institute, Ghent University, Utrecht University and CIB Margarita Salas (Madrid), who will experimentally quantify infection dynamics across scales. You will use stochastic and deterministic approaches and develop computational tools to parametrise mathematical models of in vitro, within-host and population-level infection dynamics with the experimental data provided by these partners.
Holding a PhD (or have submitted your thesis before taking up the role) in Mathematics, Statistics, Physics or a closely allied discipline; you will have expertise and experience of developing and applying mathematical models in Systems Biology, carrying out computational simulations, and linking models with data.
