Job Description
The laboratory of Dr. Jared Bushman at the University of Wyoming is seeking a creative and independent post-doctoral fellow to work on nationally funded research projects on neural injury and regeneration. This post doctoral fellow will work with an interdisciplinary and multi-institutional team to identify novel mechanisms underlying nervous system injury and develop innovative treatments for peripheral nerve and spinal cord injuries. Research on peripheral nerve seeks to understand the cues that determine axon guidance within complex branching injuries and to develop treatments for peripheral nerve injuries that combine immunomodulation and axon fusion. Research on spinal cord injury investigates sexual dimorphism and develops treatments that utilize cell transplantation and optogenetics. The successful candidate will work on one or both of these projects and will also have the latitude to develop creative new lines of investigation.
In addition to research, there are optional career development opportunities available for this post-doctoral fellow to gain teaching experience and/or work with industrial partners. The previous two post-doctoral fellows in the Bushman laboratory leveraged the research and teaching experience gained in the lab to achieve tenure track faculty positions.
This position offers the opportunity to perform innovative and impactful research within the very livable environment of Laramie, Wyoming.
