Job Description
Advanced Grid Modeling group at Argonne National Laboratory's Center for Energy, Environmental, and Economic Systems Analysis is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher passionate about development of scientific software and using it to conduct transmission and distribution system analysis.
Candidates will be required to work in the following areas:
Perform modeling and analysis of transmission systems (steady state and dynamics). Mostly using PSS/E python interface.
Perform modeling and analysis of distribution systems (steady state). Mostly using OpenDSS Python binding.
Develop/validate optimization algorithms applied to transmission and distribution systems.
Additionally, candidates will:
Give seminars and prepare journal articles, technical reports, and presentations for conferences and workshops.
Support open-source software development efforts for DOE projects.
Position Requirements
Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering.
Fundamental understanding of power system modeling and numerical methods.
Familiarity with PSS/E, OpenDSS.
Understanding of at least one programming language is preferred.
Familiarity with version control (Git) and containers (Docker/Podman) is preferred.
Ability to work effectively both independently and in a collaborative team environment.
Ability to problem-solve and analytical skills.
Experience publishing in high-impact journals and assisting in proposal development.
