The Neurotrauma basic and translational research program, Department of Surgery, at Morehouse School of Medicine is seeking outstanding and motivated postdoctoral fellows, with research interests in studying blood-brain barrier/neurovascular dysfunctions following traumatic brain injury. The research lab focuses on conducting research in cellular, molecular, and physiological changes associated with traumatic brain injury, especially the regulation of proinflammatory signaling pathways and proteolytic enzymes, in blood-brain barrier dysfunction and hyperpermeability. The broad objectives include identification and characterization of the pathobiological mechanisms leading to the formation of cerebral edema following brain injury and identification of novel therapeutic targets.
This position requires a doctoral degree (PhD or MD) with specialization in neuroscience, physiology, molecular biology, biochemistry, vascular biology, or other relevant areas of biological/biomedical sciences. Experience in modern neuroscience methods, molecular biological/biochemical techniques, rodent physiological/microvascular and microsurgical procedures, rodent traumatic injury models, and microscopic imaging techniques, preferred. All applicants should have evidence of scientific productivity and peer-reviewed publications in internationally recognized journals.
