Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Geospatial Post-Doctoral Fellow to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting independent research and assisting with ongoing geospatial research projects at UMSL Geospatial Collaborative. This position is a full-time, temporary appointment for up to two years.
Responsibilities:
Conduct independent research in geospatial science using advanced analytical and statistical techniques with a focus on addressing important societal and environmental challenges.
Develop and implement geospatial models and algorithms to analyze complex spatial data.
Work collaboratively with other researchers and contribute to ongoing geospatial research projects.
Collect, process, and analyze geospatial data from various sources such as satellites, drones, and ground-based sensors.
Prepare reports, manuscripts, and presentations of research findings for publication and conference presentation.
Writing and submitting grant proposals to prestigious federal funding agencies such as NSF.
Assist with teaching geospatial courses as needed.
Mentor graduate students and participate in the training of junior staff.

Qualifications
A Ph.D. in Geography, Geomatics, Environmental Science, Computer Science, or related field with a strong focus on geospatial science, with no more than 2 years post-doctoral experience.
Knowledge of remote sensing, GIS, and spatial statistics.
Expertise in geospatial analysis and modeling techniques.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, and/or MATLAB.
Experience with geospatial software packages such as ArcGIS, and ENVI.
Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with others.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Evidence of research productivity such as publications in peer-reviewed journals or conference proceedings.
