Job Description
The Miller Lab in the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism at UC San Diego is looking for a Post-Doctoral Researcher interested in neuronal cell biology. The research is at the intersection of cholesterol metabolism/lipid rafts and neuroinflammation/neurodegeneration. A specific focus of the postdoctoral project will be on protective function of apoA-I binding protein (AIBP), the protein that selectively, in a TLR4-dependent manner, regulates lipid rafts in inflamed and cholesterol-overloaded cells. The successful candidate will be a recent PhD graduate with a strong publication record and demonstrated expertise in neuronal/glial cell biology and molecular techniques, high-resolution imaging and mouse models of neurodegeneration. The fellow will be part of a vibrant research community combining insights from mechanisms involved in the development of lipid abnormalities, atherosclerosis, neuroinflammation, neuropathic pain, and Alzheimer's Disease, with a strong focus on translation of scientific discoveries into clinic.
