What Your Job Will Be Like: We are seeking a Postdoctoral Appointee to contribute to the design, fabrication, and integration of emerging memory with digital logic to produce analog algorithm accelerators exploiting in-memory computing. This position will involve assisting with the design of bit-cells and core structures, including the development of masks and step-by-step fabrication process flows. In addition, custom and novel post-processing options on prototype devices will need to be developed. On any given day, you may be called on to: + Implement existing microfabrication processing steps to help produce and validate memory prototypes. + Integrate prototype memories with existing prototypes and work with materials scientists and electrical engineers to validate them. + Invent new processing methods and help realize new device prototypes. + Conduct innovative research, publish and present results in refereed journals and conferences. + Develop and pursue new opportunities in areas that support Sandia Mission activities. + Work in multidisciplinary teams. Qualifications We Require: + PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related field conferred within five (5) years prior to employment + Ability to acquire and maintain a DOE L clearance Qualifications We Desire: + A record of publication and innovation, as evidenced by peer-reviewed journal articles, conference proceedings, technical books or issued patents + Familiarity with the fabrication techniques and materials used for conventional and emerging microelectronic devices + Experience with neuromorphic hardware and/or machine learning/artificial intelligence hardware accelerators + Familiarity with the basics of ASIC and VLSI design, as well as heterogenous integration + Proficiency with programming languages including python and other numerical methods + Excellent oral, written, interpersonal, and organizational skills + Ability to work in a collaborative research environment on problems in a variety of domains About Our Team: The Multiscale Fabrication Science & Technology Development Department leverages a diverse capability set to provide science and technology products to enhance Sandia's national security missions. The department includes a broad set of expertise for fabricating devices for applications in atomic physics, quantum information S&T, micro-optics, and microsensors. We provide solutions including atomic physics based sensors, microelectronic device fabrication and characterization, microfabrication at the atomic scale, atom and ion trapping microsystems, and electrochemical deposition expertise.
