Position Description:
This Research Technician/Specialist position supports the research, project, and grants management for the Group led by Professor Greg Wang at the UNC Cancer Center. The PIs’ research is primarily focused on studies of the cancer-causing mechanisms and development of new cancer treatments. Topics of studies supervised by this Research Technician/Specialist will include (1) support on cancer modeling in animals (such as cell xenografting), mouse colony care and genotyping, compound delivery, etc. (2) management of orders/invoices and lab inventory, report of grant budgets, interfacing with business office personnel, monitoring adherence to protocols, keeping records of research activities and quality control across a variety of platforms. (3) assist with lab projects as needed.
Essential Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
The primary competencies for this position are lab management including management of orders/invoices, lab inventory, report etc. Other competencies include breeding and maintaining mouse colony and performing mouse genotyping, so a working knowledge of murine mode of cancer is a requirement.
Preferred Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in biology or related natural science is preferred.
Qualifications and Experience: Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
