Job Description
A Ph.D. degree in an area of computational biology, bioinformatics, biostatistics, data science, or a related field is required. The candidate must have training in statistics and programming expertise, in particular R/Python and interest in the application of computational/statistical methods to complex datasets, relevant experience with single cell data analysis is a plus. The successful applicant will join a collaborative, interdisciplinary team and perform cutting-edge basic and/or translational research. The general research theme is to tackle biological problems with advanced computational and statistical methods. The principal investigator of our laboratory is Dr. Mayinuer Maitituoheti, an assistant professor in the Department of Surgery, Immunobiology and Transplant Science Center. Dr. Maitituoheti received her Ph.D. degree from Huazhong University of Science & Technology and postdoctoral training in the laboratory of Dr. Kunal Rai at the MD Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Maitituoheti has identified many functional epigenetic elements associated with cancer development and immunotherapy resistance. Our laboratory is interested in the functional epigenomics of breast and ovarian cancers with two preliminary directions towards: (1) understanding the role of epigenetic aberrations in early tumorigenesis, disease progression and the development of therapy resistance, and (2) searching for biomarkers and specific therapeutic targets for personalized cancer medicine.
