Job Description
Position Summary: The postdoctoral researcher will evaluate the plasticity behavior of various components used in plant engineering, such as nuclear power plants, through crystal plasticity finite element analysis (FEA). For this analysis, ABAQUS, a commercial FEA program, will be used, and some user subroutines that simulate single crystal plasticity will have to be developed. In addition, the stress states (e.g., residual stress, thermal stress, stress due to earthquake) that occur in various nuclear components will be assessed by FEA, and various damage mechanisms such as plastic collapse, ratcheting, fatigue, and irradiation assisted stress corrosion cracking (IASCC) will be evaluated analytically.
