Job Description
JOB SUMMARY:
This position will support preclinical research studies at Evommune, reporting to the Director of Research. The Senior Scientist will be the scientific lead on one or more of the early-stage pipeline programs, responsible for the experimental design, conduct, analysis, and reporting of preclinical research, including use of the in-house human tissue assay. The Senior Scientist will also support collaborations with academic labs or contract research organizations. The Senior Scientist will be required to stay abreast of the appropriate scientific literature for their project(s), provide scientific input to the greater team, attend scientific meetings and present work, and help prepare publications and other internal or external documents related to their research. The Senior Scientist may also aid in scientific review of potential new programs, evaluate the therapeutic landscape, and also help in implementing new in-house research technologies for the group.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Serve as lead scientist for one or more of Evommune’s early-stage programs
• Design and execute studies to understand mechanism of action, biology, mechanism of disease for key Evommune programs
• Regularly provide updates of research activities and status to the Director of Research
• Keep experimental data and protocols organized on file shares, and prepare summary reports of research studies
• Provide scientific input on current projects, and potential new in licensing projects
• Contribute to general lab activities, including screening of potential in licensing opportunities
• Aid in training and mentoring of research interns and any other additional research staff
QUALIFICATIONS:
• A PhD in immunology required
• Previous research experience with a focus on mast cell biology, T-cell biology, and/or inflammatory disease is highly preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to think creatively about a scientific project, clearly present hypotheses and plan appropriate experiments to address said hypotheses, analyze and interpret data, and present results to both scientific and lay-audiences
• Hands-on experience with experimental techniques such as handling of human/animal tissue, cell culture, primary immune cells, nucleic acid isolation, qRT-PCR, RNAseq, and proteomic assays (such as ELISA/MSD) is required
• Hands-on experience with cryo-sectioning, histology, microscopy, flow cytometry, single-cell RNAseq, spatial transcriptomics, and/or experience with animal models of inflammatory disease, would be highly advantageous.
• Must be highly organized, punctual, and precise both in regards to performing of laboratory experiments and presenting of data

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS:
• Deep understanding of basic immunology, with experience in mast-cell biology and inflammation.
• Demonstrated ability to think creatively about a scientific project, clearly present hypotheses and plan appropriate experiments to address said hypotheses, analyze and interpret data, and present results to both scientific and lay-audiences
• Excited and motivated by scientific questions. Willing to work as a team-player and provide scientific support to the whole research team.
• Ability to work independently and occasionally during non-traditional work hours as may be required by some experiments, and will need to be highly independent in the laboratory.

• Experience with Microsoft software suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and other commonly used computer applications (Zoom, MS Teams, Box, etc.)
