A postdoctoral fellow position is available at Professor Xinbin Chen's lab at Schools of Medicines and Veterinary Medicine, University of California, Davis. The lab is focused on cancer biology with special interest in the p53 family proteins as a tumor suppressor and how mutant p53 functions as an oncogene. Since tumors are addicted to mutant p53 oncogenic activities, we are actively exploring whether mutant p53 can be targeted as a cancer therapeutical strategy. To target mutant p53, both small molecules and peptides are being designed to suppress mutant p53 expression and/or activities.
The successful applicant will have an opportunity to develop expertise in mouse models of cancer, chemical biology and cancer therapeutics. We seek a highly motivated individual with a Ph.D. degree in molecular/cellular biology or chemical biology. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential. The stipend for the position is based on the University of California competitive salary guideline (from $60K to $72K depending on your experience) along with very generous health, dental and vision insurances. Desired start date is June 1, 2023.
