Job Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Plan, design, and perform experiments approved by PI, and comply good laboratory practices (GLP)
Analyze data , perform statistical analysis, and create graphics
Maintain laboratory notebooks pertinent to the projects
Prepare data for publication, poster, and oral presentation in local, regional, national, and international meetings
Be able to participate in local, regional, and national meetings and make presentations
Actively participate in laboratory meetings
Available for extended hours and weekends if / when necessary
Ability to work with human samples such as blood, brain, and spinal cord tissue
Travel between KU Alzheimer’s Center and lab (10-15 minute driving time) for picking up blood samples
Perform lab equipment calibrations and keep laboratory equipment in working conditions
Have desire to learn new methods pertinent to ongoing projects
Be able to harmoniously work with medical and graduate students, and research associate in a team environment
Qualifications:
Doctoral degree in biological sciences (i.e., biochemistry, cell biology, molecular biology)
Minimum one (1) year of post-doctoral experience in standard laboratory techniques (i.e., spectrophotometric methods, SDS/PAG electrophoresis, Western blotting, ELISA, mammalian cell culture, immunoprecipitation, etc.)
Good and efficient oral communication and writing skills
