POSTDOCTORAL POSITION IN NEW YORK - The Role of Biomolecular Condensates In HIV-1 Replication and Cellular Transcription
Highly motivated, ambitious, driven, and talented postdoctoral fellows are sought to join the Diaz-Griffero Lab in New York, a research program that studies the role of cellular factors on viral replication to understand viral-host interactions. Our program has made important contributions to the mechanisms by which HIV-1 productively infect human primary T cells and non-dividing cells, and has recently developed several assays to capture cellular factors that contribute to productive infection using mass spectrometry. Lately, we have recently discovered that HIV-1 induces the formation of nuclear biomolecular condensates during infection. The goal of this position is to understand the role of condensates in HIV-1 replication and cellular transcription. Our interdisciplinary program has a robust set of global collaborations, which strengthen our scientific capabilities. The individual is expected to join a fast pace moving environment. Career development including attendance to conferences is strongly supported. The laboratory is located in the new Price Center Building, a recently constructed state-of-the-art biomedical research facility centrally located on the campus of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. Funding is currently available for up to 3 years, with the possibility of further extensions.
This program aims to gain biochemical, cellular biological, and in vivo understanding of the mechanism by which host proteins assist viral replication. Requirements: a) Recent Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree. b) Experience in molecular biology (cloning, shRNA, CRISPR/Cas9, real-time PCR, Western blot), cell biology (microscopy, immunofluorescence and tissue culture), and biochemistry (subcellular fractionation, immunoprecipitations) is desired. c) experience working with human primary T cells is desired.
