We are seeking a postdoctoral fellow with at least 3 years of experience or a research investigator who completed 5-6 years of a research fellowship program and has a minimum of 1 year as a research investigator. The final selection will be based on the expertise and motivation of the candidate.

The main goal of this position is to focus on preclinical projects designed to improve understanding of the mechanistic basis of cancer cell survival, which may lead to devising novel approaches to treat this dreadful disease. Our lab is funded by NIH and pharma and has a track record in hematopoietic neoplasms and solid tumors. The successful candidate will contribute to developing preclinical projects that include in vitro and in vivo experimental approaches. Her/his role will also include analyzing and interpreting data, managing data to communicate scientific findings at informal and formal meetings, and preparing abstracts and manuscripts for presentation and publication in peer-review journals. Expertise in in vitro assays is required, including but not limited to analyzing cell viability, proliferation, apoptosis, cell cycle, cell adhesion, and cell migration. Also, expertise in tissue and cell staining techniques, including immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence, molecular techniques such as PCR and sequencing, flow cytometry, and growth factor assays such as ELISA, is desired. Expertise in developing permeant cell clones is favored. Our lab utilizes several animal models, and therefore expertise in animal research is a must.

Program Description:
Develop and perform preclinical scientific research projects on the mechanistic basis of cancer cell survival to develop novel approaches to tackle this disease, with a special focus on hepatocellular carcinoma. The preclinical projects include in vitro experiments in cell lines as well as in vivo animal models, including xenografts, KO/Tg mice, and naturally developed tumors in immunocompetent. The successful candidate will work with the PI and lab members to develop the research plan and design the experimental approach, then will be responsible for executing the experiments and collecting the data. The candidate will also be responsible for maintaining and presenting the data, drafting abstracts and manuscripts, and contributing to writing proposals and grants.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
*Develop skills for collaboration and translation of laboratory-based findings focusing on the mechanistic basis of cancer survival and developing novel approaches to treat cancer.
*Learn how to perform additional, complex experimental approaches using the resources available at the laboratory and the institutional core facilities.
*Acquire skills in the statistical analysis of acquired data.
*Develop research projects independently.
*The successful candidate, along with the mentor, will present their data in an informal laboratory and more formal academic scientific meetings.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Eligible candidates should have the following:
*Hold a current research postdoctoral fellow position and earned a Ph.D. or equivalent degree
*Have at least 3 years of expertise working in a research laboratory
*Fluency in English, written and spoken.
*Eligible visa to work in the USA.
