Job Description
A Postdoctoral Research Position focused on investigating viral and host alterations underlying cervical cancer formation, progression and treatment is open in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Medical College of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, WI, USA
Our Team
A postdoctoral research position is available in the lab of Dr. Janet S. Rader in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Medical College of Wisconsin. We are part of a highly interactive, interdisciplinary team of researchers with diverse backgrounds and expertise in a collaborative scientific environment. Visit our Lab website https://obgyn.mcw.edu/research/labs/rader-lab/
Project Details
The candidate will participate in a newly funded NIH research program aimed at identification and characterization of clinically relevant genes/pathways derived from human papillomavirus (HPV) integration signatures in cervical cancer. For this work, our laboratory leverages existing and newly generated multi-omics datasets from large cohorts of cervical cancer specimens from women with well-annotated clinical-pathologic data. In collaboration with the research team, the candidate will be expected to design and perform research projects using a combination of wet and dry lab techniques and analyses. The methodologies used in the research project include high-throughput sequencing technologies (Illumina and Oxford Nanopore), bioinformatic analyses of large patient datasets, cell culture, CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing, and various molecular biology assays. Prior experience employing at least one of these methodologies is considered an advantage.
Position Highlights
• Fully funded postdoctoral position
• Opportunities for training and use of state-of-the-art cellular and molecular techniques and bioinformatic analyses of large patient datasets
• Unique access to large cohorts of patient samples and related datasets with opportunity to translate findings into clinical trials
• The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Medical College of Wisconsin integrates excellent patient care with cutting-edge clinical and basic research.
• Outstanding mentorship for tailoring position and project to meet candidate’s career goals
Ideal Candidate Qualifications
• Solid background in molecular biology, cancer biology, genetics, bioinformatics, or similar field
• Strong work ethic
• Experience with in vitro cancer models and/or bioinformatic analysis of large multi-omic datasets
• Motivated to work in a team and passionate about cancer research
Job Requirements
• PhD or equivalent in Biology, Genetics, Bioinformatics, or related field
