Postdoctoral fellow position is available for highly motivated candidates with a background in molecular/cellular biology, genomics, epigenomics, immunology. Projects will focus on the biology and epigenomics of breast and ovarian cancers, the identification of novel epigenetic therapeutic strategies and targets, and the mechanisms underlying targeted and immuno-therapy resistance. We study these areas by using epigenome mapping technologies such as high-throughput ChIP-Sequencing, ATAC-Seq, Hi-ChIP, etc. in clinically characterized patient tumor samples and cancer cell lines, single cell-based analysis, CRISPR based tools as well as other traditional biochemical, molecular and cell biological approaches.

A Ph.D. degree in an area of biology or equivalent is required. Applicants with good publication record and relevant research experience with epigenetics, immunology and bioinformatics are preferred. The principal investigator of our laboratory is Dr. Mayinuer Maitituoheti, an assistant professor in the Department of Surgery, Immunobiology and Transplant Science Center. Dr. Maitituoheti received her Ph.D. degree from Huazhong University of Science & Technology and postdoctoral training in the laboratory of Dr. Kunal Rai at the MD Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Maitituoheti has identified many functional epigenetic elements associated with cancer progression and immunotherapy resistance. Our laboratory is interested in the functional epigenomics of breast and ovarian cancers with two preliminary directions towards: (1) understanding the role of epigenetic aberrations in the early tumorigenesis, disease progression and the development of therapy resistance, and (2) searching for biomarkers and specific therapeutic targets for personalized cancer medicine.
