Job Description
Imperial College Research Fellowships
We have an exciting opportunity for outstanding early-career researchers to develop independent research programmes as part of the Imperial College Research Fellowship scheme. We are looking for people from all backgrounds and from all over the world, as we recognise that diversity is key to successful creativity. We show our dedication to equality and valuing diversity by being a Stonewall Diversity Champion and an Athena Silver SWAN Award winner.
Recruiting the best talent means accessing the widest possible network of that talent. We strive to ensure the diversity of our candidates, and we reflect this ethos in the way we promote, recruit, and select people for the ICRF programme. We believe that diversity not only benefits Imperial but that it positively helps the sector to better represent the communities that we serve. In terms of work-life balance, we offer a generous holiday leave allowance, enhanced maternity provision at 18 weeks full-pay, and advice and support on childcare and eldercare is available through My Family Care. To that end we encourage applications from people from a diverse range of backgrounds.
Proposals will be considered in all research areas active within participating departments at Imperial, and are expected to contribute to the development of Imperial’s Academic Strategy and cross-cutting sub-themes. Fellowships that are co-sponsored with external partners may be possible. For more information, see https://www.imperial.ac.uk/research-fellowships/icrf/.
You will need to identify an Imperial academic staff member to act as your sponsor who will provide laboratory space, facilities and mentorship. Candidates may be from the UK or abroad and will normally be expected to have no more than 4 years post-doctoral research experience at the time of application. It is anticipated that you would be at the early stages of your research career and be able to demonstrate the potential to establish research independence.
To learn more about this outstanding opportunity and how to apply please visit http://www.imperial.ac.uk/research-fellowships/icrf/. Those interested in applying are expected to contact their proposed sponsor and proposed host department as early as possible, to discuss their intentions to apply and to acquire information about any additional departmental timelines and local processes.
If you have any queries about our fellowships please contact Dr Suzanne Husein at [email protected].
Deadline for proposals is Monday 22 August 2022 (23:59 BST).

We are committed to equality of opportunity, to eliminating discrimination and to creating an inclusive working environment for all. We therefore encourage candidates to apply irrespective of age, disability, marriage or civil partnership status, pregnancy or maternity, race, religion and belief, gender identity, sex, or sexual orientation. We are an Athena SWAN Silver Award winner, a Disability Confident Leader and a Stonewall Diversity Champion.
The College is a proud signatory to the San-Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA), which means that in hiring and promotion decisions, we evaluate applicants on the quality of their work, not the journal impact factor where it is published.
