Job Description
XR in Pediatrics (XRPeds) focuses on the use of extended reality (virtual, augmented, and mixed reality) in research, clinical practice, and health education with the goal of improving lives and reducing disparities of youth, young adults, and their families.
We are seeking a Postdoctoral Associate with an interest in virtual reality, augmented reality, serious games, health behavior, behavioral or cognitive psychology, or public health and appropriate experience to join our multidisciplinary team of researchers, clinicians, and educators within the Department of Pediatrics at Yale. As part of our team, the Postdoctoral Associate will take a role in the development and evaluation of several game- and XR-based clinical applications and health interventions focused on improving the lives of youth and young adults. The position also involves overseeing community-building events and activities at XRPeds involving virtual reality, augmented reality, and serious games.
The successful candidate will work in close collaboration with the XRPeds team participating in all phases of our projects: conceptualization and development, recruitment of subjects for focus group/playtesting; design and implementation of subsequent research trials; data collection; management and analysis; writing up results; and presenting findings. This one-year, full-time position (with the potential for a second year) offers the opportunity to work alongside a prolific group of researchers, clinicians, and XR software developers and engineers, but requires creativity, excellent writing skills, and a strong interest in intellectual collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. Position begins August 1, 2022, materials should be submitted no later than July 15, 2022.
