Introduction:
The Department of Radiation Oncology, Division of Medical Physics, at the Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, VA, is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to perform cutting-edge research in medical physics, specifically on the optimization of GYN brachytherapy planning.
Training:
This is a one-year, full-time position. The successful candidate will receive mentorship, be given opportunities to publish and attend major conferences and to seek extramural research funding. The department also operates a CAMPEP-accredited graduate and certificate programs where the candidate may be given opportunities to take course(s) for credit, if needed, such to propel their (clinical) careers in the field.
Qualifications - Required:
Graduate level degree (PhD preferred) in physics, engineering, computer science, applied math, or a related field.
Motivated to work under interdisciplinary settings and with major vendors.
Strong speaking and writing skills.
Qualifications - Preferred:
Exposure to brachytherapy treatment and planning.
Experience in medical image processing.
Experience in scientific programming and computational methods.
Coursework or experience in optimization.
Coursework or experience in statistical analysis.
Track record of research and publications.
Research background in medical physics, engineering, computer science, or related field.
Facility and Equipment:
Our lab works on simulations, designs, and clinically translatable solutions to improving radiation therapy. We have access to high-end servers (CPU & GPU), lab space, offices, collaboration with major vendors, and the necessary clinical systems including Varian, ViewRay, and Canon. With an in-house CAMPEP-accredited graduate & certificate programs creates an interdisciplinary environment for sharing ideas, data, equipment, and infrastructure amongst faculty, researchers, and students.
Salary Range: $54,835-$55,227
