Postdoctoral Research Scientist, at the Institute for Cancer Genetics
- Columbia University Medical Center, Institute for Cancer Genetics
- Location: New York, NY
- Job Number: 7100033
- Posting Date: May 12, 2022
Job Description
Postdocs will conduct research on the role of lymphoma-associated mutations in the malignant transformation of germinal center B cells, with emphasis on those targeting histone/chromatin modifier genes. Examples include mechanisms by which inactivation of the KMT2D/KMT2C methyltransferases (Zhang et al, Nature Medicine 2015) and the CREBBP/EP300 acetyltransferases (Zhang et al., Cancer Discovery 2017) contribute to the clonal evolution of the lymphoma precursor cell through cell-intrinsic and cell-extrinsic mechanisms, and the identification and targeting of synthetic lethal interactions in these tumors (Meyer et al, Immunity, 2019). Other projects focused on charting the genetic landscape of specific B cell lymphoma subtypes (e.g. Liu, Blood Cancer Discovery 2020), including the non-coding genome, and the interaction between gene mutations and the immune microenvironment are also ongoing. Candidates will have the opportunity to work in the vibrant environment of the Institute for Cancer Genetics and be integrated with an outstanding group of cancer biologists and bioinformaticians.
Qualifications
The ideal candidates must be highly motivated, enthusiastic, and capable of handling a fast-paced environment, with a proven track record of research and laboratory work in the form of publications in English language journals. A strong background in molecular biology with solid organizational, time management, and project management skills is required. Experience in genetics and chromatin analysis, B cell immunology, and mouse models will be a plus. Candidates are expected to be able to communicate in written and spoken English.
Application Instructions
1. Full curriculum vitae, publication list, information on years of experience in research and laboratory work.
2. Names and contact information (email and telephone numbers) of 3 references.
3. Summary of research interests and long-term plans.
