Job Description
A postdoctoral fellow position in the field of neurological cancers is available immediately in the Department of Molecular and Translational Medicine at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso. The postdoctoral fellow is being recruited to conduct research on the molecular and cellular mechanisms involved in cancer immunology. Our laboratory-based team has a fundamental goal of translating findings to clinically meaningful advances, including opportunities for new therapeutic approaches to treat neurological diseases. Vital area for research will include development of gene-based therapies for glioma. Our collaborative team provides ideal opportunities to gain mentorship from multiple PIs and have exposure to basic, translational and clinical research. The PI has a strong track record of mentoring graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. TTUHSC El Paso provides ample opportunities for training and professional development for postdoctoral fellows, including an active Postdoctoral Association.
The fellow will work in a highly collaborative setting focused on basic and translational research. Specific responsibilities for the postdoctoral fellow will include planning, designing, executing and troubleshooting experiments. The fellow will be expected to prepare technical reports for use in proposals and presentations at scientific meetings, and publication of research papers. The candidate will be expected to maintain a detailed record of observations in a laboratory notebook.
We seek highly motivated, enthusiastic individuals who have a Ph.D. in any biomedical sciences field with a background in cancer immunology, gene-based therapies. Candidates with solid organizational skills and the capacity to prioritize and handle multiple projects are highly encouraged to apply.
Minimum qualifications
Highly motivated individuals with a Ph.D. in biomedical sciences, molecular biology, immunology, oncology, or related fields.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
