Job Description
A postdoctoral position is available to study the mechanisms of DNA damage repair and stem cell biology in Wang lab at the Lundquist Institute/Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. The position is supported by California Institute for Regenerative Medicine (CIRM) program for stem cell training program and Californian breast cancer research program (CBCRP). We are interested in understanding: 1) the mechanism of repairing DNA damage at active transcription sites; 2) the mechanism of DNA damage-induced lineage plasticity in tumor initiation and progression; 3) the therapeutic strategies to attack DNA damage lesions in BRCA-deficient cells. We employ a variety of genetic, biochemical and cell biological tools to address these questions. Highly motivated and passionate applicants are encouraged to apply.Qualifications for the position include Ph.D. or M.D. degree(s), molecular biology techniques and mouse model experience. Previous experience in DNA damage repair or genomic instability is a plus but not required. Excellent written and oral communication is required in this collaborative environment. The Wang lab is based at the Lundquist Institute for Biomedical Innovation at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center (TLI) in Torrance, CA. The research milieu at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center and the UCLA Center for the Health Sciences (CHS) contains investigators in nearly every discipline of basic biomedical and medical research. The UCLA CHS is located approximately 30 minutes north of the Harbor-UCLA campus.
