POSTDOC OPPORTUNITIES IN SOLID TUMOR EVOLUTION AND METASTASIS BIOLOGY
- Abigail Wexner Research Institute at Nationwide Children's Hospital
- Location: Columbus, OH
- Job Number: 7087476
- Posting Date: Oct 20, 2021
- Application Deadline: Open Until Filled
Job DescriptionThe successes of several recent trainees have created opportunities for the Roberts lab to hire 2-3 new postdocs (or highly motivated graduate students) over the coming year. Multiple projects now nearing publication have driven successful funding applications, creating a strong platform and an exciting environment to explore mechanisms of metastatic lung colonization, epigenetic drivers of intratumoral heterogeneity, and translation of previously identified vulnerabilities through clinical trials in both companion animals and humans.
Existing expertise within the Roberts lab includes computational biology (with a focus on single-cell transcriptomics, genomics, and epigenomics), murine models of disease (especially patient-derived xenograft models), preclinical drug evaluation (including mouse clinical trials), high-resolution microscopy (including live cell microscopy using reporter systems), and niche-labeling techniques. Dr. Roberts is a physician-scientist who retains an active clinical practice and fills diverse leadership roles in national and international early-phase clinical trial consortia–work done in his lab retains a clear focus on translation. New members will have opportunities to enhance their own scientific capabilities by learning these techniques and systems while bringing new perspectives, ideas, and techniques to the overarching problems.
To learn more, reach out to Ryan at firstname.lastname@example.org. He would be happy to discuss opportunities and to share the latest (unpublished) work coming out of the lab. Postdocs/trainees with an inclination toward computational biology are particularly encouraged to apply. Wet bench work remains a foundation of the growing lab–applicants seeking to develop skills noted above are likewise encouraged to apply.
