Sandia reserves the right to extend the posting date at any time. : Our team seeks a Postdoctoral Appointee with experience and a real passion for research in knowledge representation, graph theory, and machine learning. In this role, you will work collaboratively on a multidisciplinary research team conducting fundamental algorithmic research in the context of a real-world application. The successful candidate will contribute to an effort developing new tools for augmented intelligence and decision support for model integration tasks-in support of the digital engineering efforts at Sandia. Primary research tasks include: + Evaluating reasoning strategies for automated constraint extraction from existing knowledge graphs + Developing defeasible reasoning strategies to propose candidate constraints and determine if these candidates are merely incidental or should be codified in future model evaluation programs + Operationalizing “higher-order modeling errors,” with an eye towards augmented intelligence systems for model evaluation Sandia National Laboratories provides a challenging and dynamic research environment that combines fundamental research with real-world, large-scale applications. + Possess, or are pursuing, a PhD in a relevant science, technology, engineering or mathematical (STEM) field + Experience with research software development or data analytics + Background in ontologies and semantic web technologies (including RDF, OWL, and SPARQL) + Experience in graph/network analysis + Able to acquire a DOE Q-level security clearance
+ Proven experience with Python + Prior experience with answer set programming, constraint logics, defeasible reasoning, and/or hypothesis generation + Prior experience with data visualization + Experience with interdisciplinary and cross-disciplinary teaming environments + Excellent written and oral communication skills + Strong organizational and critical thinking skills + Ability to be self-directed and lead research projects + A publication record indicative of relevant research
The Machine Intelligence department conducts groundbreaking research in machine learning and artificial intelligence for national security applications.
