This EPSRC funded project involves the development and operation of a non-thermal plasma-catalyst reactor to investigate the control of dioxins and furans from flue gases simulating the conditions of a municipal solid waste incinerator. The majority of the work involves the detailed chemical analysis of dioxins and furans using (i) advanced solvent extraction, (ii) liquid chromatography fractionation and (iii) triple quadrupole GC-MS-MS.
Holding a PhD (or close to completion) in analytical chemistry, applied chemistry, chemical engineering or related area, you will have a strong background in catalyst development and catalyst characterisation techniques.
