Job DescriptionA new postdoctoral position is available to model aberrant RNA splicing in the laboratory of David Symer, MD, PhD, Associate Professor at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, United States.
This postdoctoral fellowship will focus on developing and studying models of aberrant RNA splicing, caused by mutations in small nuclear RNA (snRNA) transcripts which result in several human developmental diseases. To identify and characterize the causes and consequences of these RNA splicing-mediated diseases, we will develop and use research methods involving in vivo and in vitro disease models, functional genomics/CRISPR-Cas9 technology, molecular biology, human genetics and genomics methods, single-cell sequencing, and bioinformatics analysis. This fellowship is funded by an R01 grant awarded by the National Institutes of Health.
Applicants must have a recent Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree with strong research abilities and interests. The successful candidate will have a track record of productivity in research, and have the talent, energy, passion, commitment and potential to take advantage of the impressive resources available at the #1 ranked University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, molecular genetics laboratory-based technical skills and strong reference letters are required, and strong interest in developing and studying in vivo disease models is preferred.
