Immediate opening for a Postdoctoral Fellow position in the Miller Laboratory in the Cardiovascular and Metabolic Sciences Department at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner Research Institute. The research will focus on interactions between the microbiome and urologic disease. In particular, the work will seek to elucidate the mechanisms through which the gut microbiota processes dietary oxalate and how these processes impact host inflammation, gut barrier function, and plaque accumulation. Individuals with experience and knowledge of microbiology, microbiome, -omics techniques, bioinformatics, and animal studies are encouraged to apply.
Candidate must be familiar with traditional microbiology techniques with a preference for culturomics experience. Experience in conducting animal studies, including ABSL-2 studies is preferred. Candidate should also have some experience in microbiome studies including metagenomics, transcriptomics, or metabolomics. Candidate will be expected to design, implement and manage research projects focused on mechanisms associated with the host-microbe, diet-microbe, and microbe-microbe interactions that promote chronic disease.
