Job DescriptionThe Department of Surgery at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine, has an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Associate. The position supports work in Dr. Liu and Dr. Velazquez’ lab. The Postdoctoral Associate will continue to develop progress on the pending projects and assist in publications, presentations and ultimately further grant funding.
The duties and responsibilities for this position may include, but are not limited to:
Performing a wide variety of experiments in a research laboratory with a focus on surgical oncology using various molecular and cell biology, immunology and biochemistry techniques.
Performing in vivo experiments with mouse models.
Participating in laboratory management including data management of results from research assays, supply stock and ordering, and equipment maintenance.
Presentation of data in various venues will be expected.
Assist in publications
Must be effective as part of a team.
Writes and maintain IRB and IACUC protocols.
Maintains certifications for working with animals as required by protocols
Performs data collection, statistical analysis, and manuscript preparation based on results
Prepares reports on study progress.
Orders and maintains proper inventory of research supplies for continuous data collection.
Presentation of the protocol, continuing reports, adverse events and other notification and regulatory reports for the Institutional Review Board and Research Compliance Office.
Develops procedures to improve systems and operation of ongoing projects.
Maintains and organizes study records for efficiency, confidentiality and reporting.
Ph.D. or other doctoral degree, or M.D. with a specialty in Surgery preferred. Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data. Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems. Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
