Job DescriptionBe a part of the legacy: Postdoctoral Research Fellow Program
Our Research Laboratories’ Postdoctoral Research Fellow Program aims to be a best-in-industry program for industrial postdoctoral researchers, designed to provide you with an academic focus in a commercial environment. With the resources, reach, and expertise of a large pharmaceutical company, postdoctoral researchers will be positioned to excel in an institution committed to breakthrough innovation in research and discovery.
What You'll Be Doing:
The Discovery Biologics organization at our company's location in South San Francisco seeks an outstanding Postdoctoral Fellow to join the Exploratory Biology Group. This candidate will work on applying protein engineering technologies for the design of next generation biotherapeutic modalities. The goal of the project is to engineer a bispecific antibody selective for cis-targeting of 2 cell surface proteins via avidity and joining with a T-cell engager to optimize selectivity and potency of target cell killing.
Broad expertise in molecular/cellular biology and protein structure/function is required to achieve the project goals. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design of antibody mutant expression constructs, antibody expression and purification, development of protein and cell binding assays to select the desired affinity antibodies for multispecific antibody generation. The responsibilities also include performing T-cell activation assays, cell viability, cell proliferation and target cell apoptosis to obtain a multispecific with selective and potent killing of dual target expressing cells.
What You Bring:
Candidates must currently hold a PhD OR receive a PhD by fall.
Advanced experience and knowledge of molecular biology, protein expression, purification, and characterization
Experience with antibody engineering
Experience with biochemical assays (e.g. FRET, FACS, SPR, ELISA, Fluorescence)
Excellent time management and organizational skills
Demonstrated ability to successfully work in a multidisciplinary research environment
Preferred Experience and Skills:
Experience using single domain antibodies and generation of bispecifics
Cell biology experience including cell engineering and T-cell based assays
Experience in utilizing various display technologies (yeast, phage, mRNA, mammalian systems)
Immunology/Oncology experience is desirable
Prior knowledge of T cell biology is a plus
