Description of Duties:
This position is for a laboratory-based scientist with a PhD in the area of cell and molecular cancer biology. The candidate will conduct basic research for a federally funded research project directed at identifying preventive strategies and therapeutics for breast cancer. Under supervision of the principal investigator of the funded grant, the research associate will design and implement experiments using cellular and molecular biological techniques to identify proteins and molecular pathways that drive breast cancer progression.
Specific expertise in cell culture, RNA analysis, protein gel electrophoresis, identification of post-translational modifications, real-time metabolic flux monitoring with Seahorse analyzer and mammosphere formation assays is required. Candidate will be required to interface with other lab members and Cancer Research Center staff as needed for integration of the data. Demonstrated ability to independently conduct, interpret, collate and present results in small and large group formats is expected. Effective use of statistics for experimental design and analysis is required. Experience in manuscript preparation and submission is also essential.
PhD degree in Biomedical Sciences or a closely related field from a college or university accredited by the U.S Dept. of Education or an internationally recognized accrediting organization AND 3 or more years post-doctoral experience in a cancer research lab.
Candidates must address their ability to work in a culturally diverse environment.
Laboratory experience in a breast cancer research lab including protein identification and metabolic flux studies. Academic background and publications in breast cancer biology. Experience with breast cancer histopathology and quantitative immunohistochemistry.
Salary Range: $42,000-$48,000
