An NIH-funded postdoctoral position is available in the Chen laboratory at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. The lab uses mouse genetic, flow cytometry and cell sorting, imaging, and single cell RNA sequencing techniques to investigate the developmental origin of adipose tissue in mice. Specifically, we are interested in understanding the complex lineage trajectories of brown and white adipose tissue during development using mice as a model organism. We will apply this knowledge to model human brown and white adipose tissue development under normal and pathological conditions. We are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow with experience in flow cytometry, molecular biology, and developmental biology, who will be able to work collaboratively with a team of researchers with expertise in endocrinology.
- Full understanding of framing research questions, research design and methods, and project implementation.
- Learn and become expert at research techniques involved in your projects and, when appropriate, to develop and establish methods of research, testing and data collection, analysis and evaluation, and writing reports containing descriptive, analytical and evaluative content.
- The duties will require the exercise of independent discretion and judgment in carrying out research activities within the predetermined research scope and methodology. Within the predetermined research scope and methodology, conduct research experiments in the field of Nutrition Science.
- Collect and analyze data, including periodical/literature search and utilizing specialized skills in related field to analyze the collected data.
- May attend conferences and seminars.
- Mentored research training in laboratory specific research methods.
- Courses, seminars, and lectures that integrate the study of research methods and processes.
