The University of Cincinnati, College of Engineering and Applied Science is currently accepting applications for a Senior Research Associate position at the UC Simulation Center.
The UC Simulation Center is a UC Engineering and Procter & Gamble collaboration. The Center was established to support undergraduate, graduate and postdoctoral students providing them with the opportunity to perform research activities with P&G technical staff. The Center is seeking a computational scientist to lead the development and application of mathematical models which are required to develop innovative new products and materials which interact with skin.
Projects typically involve modeling of transport phenomena, sorption, and partitioning of chemical species in skin layers. The individual must be able to work with a team to define the model requirements, develop the equations which govern a given phenomenon, implement the equations, verify the model implementation, and validate the model.
•A Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent level of knowledge with a specialization in the mathematical modeling of transport phenomena, applied mathematics, and numerical methods is required.
•The candidate will have a deep understanding of chemical engineering science, mathematical optimization and model validation techniques.
•Ability to operate independently
•A Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or closely related field with a specialization in the mathematical modeling of transport phenomena, applied mathematics, and numerical methods is required.
•Professional experience or previous post-doc with skin and transport phenomena.
•Experience with biological systems dynamics
•Experience with gPROMS software.
•Programming in Python
Excellent oral and written communication skills are required. The individual must be able to effectively collaborate with Research and Development, management, and the academic community.
