A postdoc position is immediately available in the laboratory of Dr. Xin Qi in the department of Physiology & Biophysics at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine.
The lab focuses on mitochondrial pathology in the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative diseases. We use a combination of in vitro cell culture, in vivo animal models and patient-derived neurons to study the mechanisms of neurodegeneration. Another research focus of the lab is the development of therapeutics for the treatment of human diseases. We have been using the rationally designed peptide inhibitors of protein-protein interactions and high throughput screening to identify therapeutics for neurological disorders.
The successful applicant will participate in projects on elucidating molecular basis of our novel transgenic mouse models of neurodegenerative diseases. The qualified candidate will also be part of our drug discovery project for neurodegenerative diseases. The applicant must have a PhD and/or MD degree in neuroscience, molecular biology, cell biology, pharmacology, or related field. Candidates with experience in neurodegenerative diseases and mouse models are highly desired.
Interested individuals should send a cover letter, CV, and the names/phone numbers of three people who could provide letters of reference by email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
