A postdoctoral position is immediately available in the laboratory of Dr. Ren Xu within the Markey Cancer Center and Department of Pharmacology & Nutritional Sciences at the University of Kentucky. The NIN/NCI funded projects involve molecular biology, novel organoids tissue culture and transgenic mouse models, and omics approaches to understand molecular mechanisms of tumor microenvironment in breast cancer metastasis and drug resistance, with the overall long-term goal of identifying novel targets for cancer treatment. Representative publications from the laboratory can be found in Cancer Research 2012, J Clinical Investigation 2012, Molecular and Cellular Biology 2014, Cancer Research 2015, ACS Nano 2015, J Cell Sci 2017, Breast Cancer Res 2018, Nature Communication 2018.
Highly-motivated candidates with a recent PhD or MD/PhD in biomedical sciences, experience in molecular and cell biology, and strong 1st author publication record are encouraged to apply. Applicants who are permanent U.S. residents will have the opportunity to compete for a 3-year training fellowship in Cancer Biology (T32 in Cancer Biology). Successful candidates are expected to aggressively pursue their research projects and participate in a number of collaborations.
