The Cancer Biochemistry and Immunology labs in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, Northern Arizona University, Flagstaff are looking for two talented postdoctoral fellows to join the research teams of Dr. Archana Varadaraj and Dr. Narendiran Rajasekaran respectively. Each position requires a motivated and enthusiastic individual with a keen interest and prior experience in the fields of Cancer biochemistry (Position 1) and Immunology (Position 2).
PhD in Cell Biology or Immunology or Cancer Biochemistry.
A record of publishing research in top-tiered journals.
Position 1: Supervised by Dr. Varadaraj is an NIH funded position for 3 years and aims to investigate hypoxia-mediated phenotype switching of cancer cells. The project will explore signaling and molecular pathways that initiate and mediate cellular transformation in in vitro cell culture models using a combination of biochemical techniques including immunoprecipitation, immunoblotting, protein interaction studies, post-translational protein modification and microscopy.

Position 2: Supervised by Dr. Rajasekaran is an NIH funded position for 3 years. The project investigates the effect of oncolytic viruses on NK cell mediated anti-tumor cytotoxicity. The objective of the current research is to understand the effect of oncolytic virus therapy on NK cell mediated immunity. A strong immunology background is required, and a background in cancer immunology would be an asset. Experience working with NK cells is desirable but not necessary. Experience with flow cytometry (analysis and/or cell sorting), mice handling, primary cell isolation, molecular biology, cell culture, would be an asset.
