Two positions: Postdoc
– Gene editing, Chromatin, Gene regulation, Epigenetics
Employer: ShanghaiTech University, Shanghai, CHINA
Our research interests (Please visit our lab homepage: www.gaogjlab.com)
The major mission of Gao-lab is to use Drosophila and mammalian systems to achieve a comprehensive understanding of the mechanisms of chromatin, genetic and (epi-)genetic factors, particularly with a focus on non-coding RNAs and histone epigenetic codes in development, reproduction, innate immunology, aging and cancer disease. Towards achieving this mission, Gao-lab bridges the new genetic technologies and biochemistry approaches into investigation of the mechanisms of those factors involved in fundamental biological processes in animal models. Our research will define not only epigenetic molecules and pathways but also many fundamental biological processes that impact human health.
Project/The research project(s)
The successful applicants will work on projects related to understanding the role of specific chromatin-associated proteins, histone epigenetic codes and non-coding RNA in development, reproduction, innate immunology, aging and cancer disease. The applicants may also be involved in using CRISPR-CAS9 technology in combination with relevant fly models and mammalian systems to identify potential functional epigenetic molecules and pathways, and investigate many fundamental biological processes that impact human health.
Start: As soon as possible or after agreement
Duration: Postdoc: first round 2-year, could renew another 2-year for second round depending on the qualification evaluation of first round.
Desired skills and experience
We are looking for highly motivated, ambitious candidates with a strong interest in biological and medical sciences. In addition, the successful candidate should have:
A PhD in Life Sciences
Proven track record with publications in international journals
Previous experience in chromatin, epigenetics, gene regulation, biochemistry or bioinformatics is advantageous but not necessary.
Excellent English skills written and spoken
We also love working with people who are interested in new techniques and new ideas.
For further information regarding the positions, please contact Professor Guanjun Gao (email@example.com)
Terms of salary and employment
Salary, pension and terms of employment will be in accordance with the agreement of ShanghaiTech University. Currently,
Postdoc: US$ 25, 000 ~ 35, 000 per year depending on qualifications, plus free housing.
(1) Please submit a cover letter, a CV (incl. education, research experience, language skills and other skills relevant for the position), a certified copy of a PhD certificate and two letters of reference to firstname.lastname@example.org, and cc to email@example.com. Gao’s lab has been engaged in gene targeting and epigenetics regulations. He has been served as the Chair for the International Drosophila Conference - Biotechnology and Resources Section. His group published some decent paper in Nature, Genome Research, PNAS, EMBO J, Genetics, Nature Microbiology and other classic academic journals. In 2017, Gao’s lab was moved into the School of Life Sciences and Technology, Shanghai Technology University. Currently, his research group is continually working on the molecular and biological functions of chromatin, genetic and epigenetic factors. The research topics are related to: histone modification, lncRNA, reproductive, development, innate immune, aging, stem cells, cancer, genome editing and so on.
