The Science Policy Research Unit (SPRU), within the School of Business, Management and Economics at the University of Sussex, is seeking a Research Fellow to work on a DFID-ESRC funded project on pathways into and out of poverty through agricultural transformations in Kenya and South India, led by Dr Saurabh Arora.
The UK project team includes Professors Andy Stirling, Ian Scoones and Barbara Harriss-White. Co-Investigators, Dr Cosmas Ochieng and Dr Joanes Atela, in Kenya are based at African Centre for Technology Studies. The project is affiliated with the ESRC-funded STEPS Centre at IDS and SPRU, University of Sussex.
The successful candidate will have a background in Science, Technology and Society studies, Anthropology, Human Geography, Development Studies or one of the other social sciences. Prior experience with fieldwork in rural east Africa is highly desirable.
The candidate will play a central role in the final year of this 2.5 year project – in collecting data, conducting the analysis, reporting and publications, as well as coordination across the team members and in supporting/participating in project events such as the organization of a meeting and a workshop in Kenya.
The ideal candidate will have a relevant PhD or have equivalent research experience.
