Job Description
A postdoctoral research associate position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Qixin Zhong at Department of Food Science, the University of Tennessee. The postdoctoral research associate is expected to focus on interdisciplinary research projects on food antimicrobials and edible antimicrobial coatings for fresh produce safety. The candidate is expected to conduct research projects of mutual interest, prepare reports to funding agencies, publish peer-reviewed articles, assist PI in preparing grants, and mentor graduate and undergraduate researchers, where appropriate
The position is available January 2023 and is renewable till December 2024, based on performance and continued funding.
Qualifications
Requirements:
Applicants are expected to have earned a Ph.D. in food science or a related field by the time of employment.
Applicants shall have research experience in the above areas, as demonstrated through research publications in high impact journals.
Applicants must have excellent written and oral communications skills in English and be able to work in an interdisciplinary research environment.
The postdoctoral research associate is expected to generate at least one first-author paper per year from the UT work.
Salary is based on experience and qualifications according to UT policy. In addition, UT provides an excellent fringe benefits package. Knoxville is located near the beautiful Smoky Mountains, has a low cost of living, and has a moderate climate.
