Job Description
The Rutgers University Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences (EPS) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Associate.
The successful candidate will work on geochemistry-cosmochemistry related research projects, which focus on siderophile elements and their isotopic ratios in natural samples. Data will be collected using high precision thermal ionization mass spectrometry and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry techniques. Professional development and mentoring programs will be integrated into the research program.
The Postdoctoral Associate will join the research group of Dr. Katherine Bermingham at EPS, and collaborate with scientists based at several different universities in the USA and abroad. This is a 2-year position, with a possible start as soon as possible after October 1st, 2022. Questions can be directed to [email protected].
COVID-19 Immunization Requirement
Under Policy 60.1.35, Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Prospective employees who are not eligible for a booster at the time of an offer of employment must provide proof they have received a booster within two weeks (14 calendar days) of eligibility. Minimum Education and Experience
Candidates must have completed a doctoral (Ph.D) level program in Planetary Sciences or a related field.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Experience in isotope cosmochemistry and/or geochemistry, and independent user experience in thermal ionization mass spectrometry/inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry; Candidates are expected to have an excellent academic record and be fluent in English;Ability to communicate complex information clearly in written format; Strong research, organizational, and project management skills.
Equipment Utilized
Analytical chemistry in clean laboratories; Thermal ionization mass spectrometry; Inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry.
