Job Description
The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine Cancer Center invites applications for postdoctoral fellowships in cancer developmental therapeutics. Cancer Center faculty are funded by the NIH, the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT), the Department of Defense, and by private foundations. Research in the Center focuses on developing new therapeutic strategies for adult and pediatric cancers by understanding the mechanisms of resistance to chemotherapy.The Cancer Center faculty are seeking highly motivated post-doctoral fellows that are interested in carrying out research to develop novel anti-cancer drugs in the laboratory leading to clinical trials for adult and pediatric cancers. The Cancer Center has a team of multi-disciplinary investigators and conduct research in preclinical research as well as clinical studies. We also host national resource laboratories that support clinical and translational research for childhood cancer (https://www.cccells.org/), conduct clinical studies via clinical trial consortia (South Plains Oncology Consortium, SPONC.org) and participate in clinical trials via New Approaches to Neuroblastoma Therapy and Children’s Oncology Group).
Applicants should be highly motivated, have a Ph.D. M.D., or Pharm.D, have a background in molecular biology or cell biology of cancer, and have a track record of experience in the area. We are especially interested in applicants seeking to develop careers in academic medicine and the Center offers excellent growth opportunities for trainees to develop careers as independent investigators.
