Job DescriptionThe Department of Chemistry at Oklahoma State University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow in Protein NMR in Mohanty lab. The PI desires an applicant that can lead an independent project focusing on protein structure-function studies using high-resolution solution NMR, would be able to conduct molecular biology (sub-cloning and mutagenesis) work along with overexpressing recombinant protein in pure form, will provide updates on research progress during weekly group meetings, write scientific manuscripts for peer reviewed journals, disseminate research at national conferences (oral/poster presentations) and assist the PI in writing grant proposals.
Lab management responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, assisting the PI in providing experimental and technical supervision of one or more graduate students, mentor and train new graduate students, mentors and train undergraduate students conducting research projects, be responsible for routine operations in the laboratory including maintenance, safety training and maintaining biological inventory (clones, competent cells, frozen stocks etc.), along with aiding the PI in managing and purchasing lab supplies and chemicals.
Minimum qualifications are a PhD in chemistry or biochemistry or biophysics along with familiarity with very good knowledge of protein NMR, and other biophysical and computational techniques. A record of scientific output (peer-reviewed publications) and strong writing and communications skills are also required.
