Research Development Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship
A Postdoctoral Research Fellow position is available within the Office of Research Development (ORD). The postdoc will be a member of the Research Development team and will train under the direction of Dr. Laura Buccini (Director of ORD).
General Background
Research Development is a growing field of professionals that work to provide research scientists the support, guidance, resources and collaborations required to develop competitive, scientifically sound external research grant applications. These professionals initiate and nurture partnerships throughout the Institution and with external stakeholders. Interested applicants should have aspirations for a career as a research development professional.
Essential Functions
The Postdoc will be trained on a wide spectrum of activities that encompass the field of Research Development including but not limited to the following:

Identify and disseminate funding opportunities;

Review and analyze funding opportunity announcements (FOA) or similar documents;

Project management of the grant development process (e.g. facilitation of team communication, identifying additional resources, developing timelines etc.);

Conduct non-technical review of the grant proposal;

Coordinate external grant reviewers as needed;

Work with principal investigators/team to develop non-scientific proposal sections;

Develop grant writing tools and templates for research investigators
-
Other tasks as assigned
Position Requirements and Preferences
Candidates should have Ph.D. (or similar terminal research degrees). The terminal degree can come from basic or clinical sciences. Successful candidates should be familiar with the structure and required components of federal grants (specifically NIH) and should have demonstrated experience with Federal grant writing, (either their own grants or assisting other investigators).
Prospective candidates must be creative, self-motivated and capable of working independently. Candidates must be proficient in both spoken and written communication in English. Special consideration will be given to applicants with substantial grant related experience.
